Week 8, Lesson 15, Monday
Talk about your life for two minutes
Everything from the month fits into one short talk. Today you build yours, check it against the five most common mistakes, and learn the questions that turn it into a conversation.
1Recap 5 minutes
Three questions from Week 7, before anything new.
2Goal 1 minute
I can talk for two minutes about my family, where I live and my weekday, and ask the same questions back.
3The lesson 20 minutes
A model talk
A two-minute talk has four parts. Fill each one with two sentences, and you are done.
| Russian | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Меня́ зову́т Ба́йрон. Я живу́ в Ме́хико. | My name is Byron. I live in Mexico City. |
| Ме́хико — большо́й и интере́сный го́род. | Mexico City is a big and interesting city. |
| У меня́ есть брат и сестра́. | I have a brother and a sister. |
| Мой брат живёт в …, а моя́ сестра́ живёт в … | My brother lives in …, and my sister lives in … |
| У́тром я рабо́таю, а ве́чером я изуча́ю ру́сский язы́к. | In the morning I work, and in the evening I study Russian. |
| А вы? Где вы живёте? | And you? Where do you live? |
Swap in your own family, city and week; every line uses this month's grammar.
Five questions to ask back
A talk becomes a conversation the moment you ask back. These questions mirror your four branches.
| Russian | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Где вы живёте? | Where do you live? |
| У вас есть де́ти? | Do you have children? |
| Како́й ваш го́род? | What is your city like? |
| Что вы де́лаете ве́чером? | What do you do in the evening? |
| Кото́рый час? | What time is it? |
The month's top mistakes
These five mistakes were the most common this month. Each one breaks a single rule you already know.
| Not this | But this |
|---|---|
| мой окно́ | моё окно́ |
| в Москва́ | в Москве́ |
| четы́ре часо́в | четы́ре часа́ |
| кни́гы | кни́ги |
| ру́сскый | ру́сский |
Each one breaks a single rule: gender, the -е after в, the hours, the ы/и spelling, the adjective ending.

4Listen and say 5 minutes
